Visiting Mauritius

According to the 2013 world economic freedom index, Mauritius is a booming economy. The population estimate in Mauritius is around 1,3 million. The economy is based on tourism.

Mauritius, the name alone represents azure blue seas, white sandy beaches and tropical luxury.  In recent years, Mauritius has become a beautiful destination, an exceptional spa resorts and of course a paradise for golfers. Mauritius is mostly appreciated for its natural beauty, tropical climate, and beautiful beaches.

There is so much more to do in Mauritius than luxury escapes. There are loads of opportunities to discover the island and to take part in all sorts of water sports, including diving or snorkeling. Take a boat and discover the popular island. For quieter day, embark on a luxury catamaran to the Northern Islands - Gabriel Island, Flat Island and Gunner's Quoin.
A visit to Port St Louis, with its colonial architecture and wonderful markets, is a must. The country is home to some of the world's rarest plants.

Plan a visit to the Pamplemousses Gardens, the third oldest botanical gardens in the world, discover the Amazon lilies and hope to see the talipot palm, which flowers once every 60 years, then dies.
Go hiking in the mountains of Mauritius and you will discover some beautiful landscapes. Mauritius has some stunning waterfalls, visit the Black River Gorge National Park. A Day at the Champs de Mars ( no not in Paris) The Champs de Mars in Mauritius is one of the oldest racecourses in the world.

A visit to La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes known as 'The Crocodile Park', for its thousands of Nile crocodiles.
La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes  is the only place in the world to breed aldabra tortoises. The reserve is home to deers, monkeys, boars and an insectarium.
